The mission of SWABCHA is to: contribute to the HIV and AIDS National response through effective coordination of and collaboration within the Private sector to ensure universal access to prevention, treatment, care and support for employers and employees in the private sector.

VISION
To reduce HIV infection and improve the quality of life of those infected and affected by HIV in the workplace.

  • HIV-AIDS workplace policy and implementation plan development - SWABCHA will provide technical assistance to review an existing policy document or if there is no policy, to develop a new policy guide. SWABCHA has since developed a generic policy guide on HIV-AIDS which can be adapted by any company. The adaptation process will include formulation of a team representing key groupings in a company, review the policy guide, and agree on the terms and signing of the document.

  • Development of a comprehensive and supported Workplace Wellness Program-SWABCHA will provide technical assistance to review an existing program, may be a Employer Safety Program or any other program targeted at the wellness of employers and employees in the place of work. This process will also include formulation of a new but integrated program with a work breakdown forming the roadmap of the implementation of the wellness program. 

  • Management and staff awareness training-SWABCHA tailor-make training to suit your busy work schedule to target both employers and employees. The awareness training includes, raising consciousness on the company policy guide, the wellness program and overall HIV-AIDS in relation to the economy, profits and general well-being in the place of work. The session also allows debate and discussion on how best to respond to the company specific challenges arising due to HIV-AIDS and related health and social issues.

  • Peer Education Training and mentoring-SWABCHA has developed a training manual for peer educators in the workplace. The manual helps to standardize all trainings for peer educators. A monthly mentoring system to support the peer educators in-house is also available. Company focal persons will arrange the 30-45minutes meetings with peer educators once every month with the SWABCHA office. The monthly meetings will help to disseminate IEC materials, new information on research, surveys or government revised regulations on the HIV-AIDS response.
     
  • Sustainable condom supply and distribution-SWABCHA will commit to supply both male and female condoms at your door-step. In line with the government regulations, SWABCHA will not only distribute condoms to you, but, will also conduct condom demonstration sessions on correct use of condoms. This is aimed at improving actual condom use beyond condom uptake.

  • Mobile Voluntary Counseling and Testing-SWABCHA has a mobile clinic that can come to your workplace a three month intervals. The mobile unit provide HIV counseling and testing for new or follow-up clients, blood glucose tests, blood cholesterol tests and basic TB screening for referral to the nearest clinic or hospital for diagnosis

  • Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting-SWABCHA can help your company to monitor report and document your wellness program progress. There are prepared data forms that collect progress data and can be used to track progress. SWABCHA can also provide technical assistance to conduct small surveys or research within your company.
